Prompt: Reflect on your research topic and identify the most compelling issue connected to it. Clearly explain what the issue is and discuss why you find it particularly interesting or important.

Prompt Response: The most compelling issue to immigration and border control is how the officers treat immigrants. They are treated like they are not humans and it makes me empathetic because no one deserves that. One of the articles I read talked about how there wasn't proper care in the camps either which led to many diseases and infections to increase.  Summary: We were working on our sources and doing the citations. We then had to summarize all the sources and explain why we chose the source for our topic. We had to do it in alphabetical order as well. Reflection: The sources I found helped me realize how immigrants were really treated and how they were seen. The government trying to deport many immigrants back in any way they can.

Prompt: Think about your experience using GALILEO to find sources. How was this different from how you have searched for information in the past? Explain how using specific search strategies and evaluating sources impacted the quality of what you found.

Prompt Response: Using GALILEO was different because when I needed to search up anything I would just put it in Google. The answer would most likely be Wikipedia or AI and I would just use that. GALILEO had filters where you could put exactly what you wanted to see or read. It helped it be easier since it would cut down the number of resources and be specific. Summary: In class on Monday we started working on finding our resources for our topic. I put in the filters what I was specifically looking for. I then found sources and had to find around 10 that related to my topic which is immigration. Reflection: Using GALILEO really helped in finding my sources for my topic. It showed accurate sources and not ones that were AI or not fully trustworthy.

Prompt: Explain how this experience impacted your confidence as a writer and whether you feel prepared to continue analyzing complex speeches and texts in American Literature.

Prompt Response: I feel that I know now how to understand better speeches or text. The rhetorical strategies help understand what the author wants to express and how they do it.  Summary: We did the essay in class on writable. We were able to use the outline paper to follow how to do the essay well. We also had the speech to have in case we needed it.  Reflection: I used the outline paper that shows in the order the essay has to go. It helped show how to properly write a rhetorical essay and do it easily. It also had the outline for the thesis statement which is what we needed for the beginning of the essay.

Prompt: If you had to describe how you show love using only three objects (for example: a playlist, a hoodie, a late-night snack, a long text message, etc.), what would you choose and why?

Prompt Response: A hand made item is one object that I would choose because you took the time to actually make it instead of buying it. It has more meaning to know they made it with care. A long message is another one I would say because you are saying your feelings and your thoughts with the person. Words have a big way of expressing someone's love for someone. Lastly, I would say spending their time with each other. Doing that would show that no matter what you could be doing you would rather spend time with that person. It shows that you care for them and want to be around them.  Summary: Today we wrote a poem for our parents. We did it on a paper that had a heart where you write inside the poem.  Reflection: Doing the poem shows one of the three objects I said above. A long message or any message with words is a good way to express your emotions. The poem helped say those feelings to your parents.

Prompt: Describe a time when you took a hiatus from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you?

Prompt Response: A time I took a hiatus from something important was when I stopped going to the doctors. I lost my medicare and so my mom couldn't afford it and I stopped going. It impacted me because I couldn't get my proper treatment and check ups. Reflection: I am doing my past blog posts and catching up so that I can be on track.

Prompt: Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

Prompt Response: I have not eating anything all day that I can eat a mountain of burgers. I stayed up to study for a test but I'm only a little bit tired. I think Fortnite is an uncommon game. Summary: In class we learned about three rhetoric devices and do exercise 1 for each one in the book. We shared in class as well.  Reflection: Learning these rhetoric devices show how we can make our writing better and to understand texts better too.
